Tour of St Paul’s Covent Garden (The Actor’s Church)

Date: 29 September 2012 10:45

London PA Network is very privileged and delighted that The Reverend Simon Grigg, Rector of St Paul’s Covent Garden will provide the guided tour of this fascinating Church.  Simon was a child actor and later studied drama at Warwick University.  On leaving university he free-lanced as a director/stage manager, as well as teaching drama at Middlesex University. Simon went on to study at Theological College and was ordained in 1990.  He has served parishes in Cowley in Oxford, Kilburn in London, then 11 years as Vicar of St. Mary Magdalene, Munster Square, London before becoming Rector of St. Paul’s Covent Garden in 2006.

St Paul’s Covent Garden is located in the busy West End of London, adjacent to the Covent Garden Piazza.   As well as being the parish Church of Covent Garden, it is also affectionately known as “The Actors’ Church” because of its long association with the theatre community being sited, as it is, in the heart of London’s theatre land.

This beautiful church, built by Inigo Jones, has been on site since 1633 and proudly boasts an attractive churchyard where people can rest and find some peace and quiet in what can be a stressful and busy part of the city.

Join us to discover more about the history of this truly fascinating Church and to see its beauty for yourself.
